Zero Carbon Hub Conference and SAP 2013 Consultation

Zero Carbon Hub Conference and SAP 2013 Consultation

Posted on Wednesday, 8th February 2012

We attended the Zero Carbon Hub conference in London on the 2nd of this month. The theme of the day was to review the progress made towards zero carbon homes so far and to clarify the steps still to be made on the road to 2016.

Main points of interest included the explanation by DCLG officials of the recently launched SAP 2013 consultation. The consultation invites comments on the level of uplift in terms of expected carbon reductions on both commercial and residential buildings as well as the introduction of required consequential upgrades when works are carried out to existing buildings.

Further details, official documents and information on how to contribute can be found here:

The main messages from the DCLG were that fabric energy efficiency will become a major theme along with the need to ensure that buildings perform as they are designed to. Also, a move will now begin to ensure that existing housing stock becomes more efficient and that this will happen whether the Green Deal is successful or not.
