Code 4 Without Renewables?
The AimC4 project is being led by Barratt's Terry Ritchie and is building 17 homes throughout England which aim to achieve a Code Level 4 rating without the use of renewable technologies. This will mean very high standards of thermal efficiency from the building fabric and the group have been searching for innovative insulation products and building materials to help achieve this.
As the project is part government funded the project team will publish their findings in around 18 months time and in the meantime they will be publishing progress on their website at:
FES will watch this project closely as well as formulating our own ideas. We expect these fabric first solutions to Code 4 will be especially important to our clients from 2013.
